Researchers to Know is an annual initiative from the Illinois Science & Technology Coalition (ISTC) that shines a spotlight on faculty across Illinois whose work is shaping the future of innovation. Each year, we recognize twelve outstanding researchers whose expertise spans disciplines—from health and sustainability to data science, education, and beyond.

These individuals aren’t just advancing their fields—they’re actively translating research into real-world solutions, forging cross-sector partnerships, mentoring future innovators, and driving inclusive progress across the state. RTK celebrates the powerful role that research plays in economic growth, public impact, and the long-term vitality of Illinois.

By honoring these leaders, Researchers to Know aims to inspire collaboration, elevate public understanding of science, and strengthen the connection between academia and the broader innovation ecosystem.
