Goal
The Illinois Science & Technology Coalition will cultivate
economic development in Illinois by increasing resources for
Research & Development initiatives at Illinois-based
institutions and businesses.
Mission
As the only organization representing the full range of science
and technology activity in Illinois, our mission is to:
- Foster public-private partnerships to develop and execute
R&D projects;
- Advocate for funding for R&D initiatives; and
- Collaborate with public and private partners to attract and
retain R&D resources and talent in Illinois.
Current Priorities
The Illinois Science & Technology Coalition is
currently focused on three Action Items:
- Enhance awareness of Illinois' robust and world-class R&D
capabilities.
- Serve as the catalyst for multiple partners to compete for
funding, particularly for R&D projects that require or would
benefit from collaborative efforts.
- Design and implement forums and events for academic, research,
business and civic leaders, and state and federal officials.
R&D Focus Areas
Illinois is home to a diverse collection of R&D-driven
growth industries, many of which utilize the emerging tools of
biotechnology, nanotechnology, sustainable materials and other
converging technologies. The Illinois Science & Technology
Coalition concentrates on several industrial sectors,
including:
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Agriculture
- Energy
- Information Technology
- Life Sciences
- Supercomputing

The Illinois Science & Technology Coalition succeeds only

Funding
The Illinois Science & Technology Coalition is a 501(c)(6)
organization supported by the Illinois Department of Commerce and
Economic Opportunity and other organizations. Our long-term
objective is to transition into a member-supported organization
that also receives public funding. The ISTC was previously known as
the Illinois Coalition.
